Space Echo

太陽系の惑星がそれぞれ固有の音を発しながら回転し、それらが共鳴し宇宙の調べを奏でているという魅惑的なヴィジョンが存在する。中世以前から、惑星の距離や運動の相対性を音の高さに置き換えて「惑星音階」なるものを導きだした古い科学者たちが脈々と存在し、そのようなインスピレーションは現在も尚輝きを失わずに残響し続けている。

この作品では、MOAドームに全天周の太陽系惑星イメージを投影し、固有の音を発しながら周回する惑星たちが共鳴し、宇宙の調べをイマーシヴに音像化する。また、来場者は円形ホール中央に設置されたコズミックな卵型センサーに手をかざすことで、ドームに広がる宇宙空間そのものを楽器を奏でるように遊ぶことが出来る。

Planetry orbits in our solar system can be interpreted as musical resonance, each planet producing it’s own unique audio signature. The egg-shaped interface in the middle of the dome could be used like a musical instrument to control the cosmical elements in this immersive projection installation.

The installation had two modes of use; a set performace by the artists,
and a free interactive mode enjoyed by museum visitors of all ages.
