THE TRIP visual co-direction with JEFF MILLS

実験的でコンセプチュアルなテクノ・ミュージックの象徴的な存在として、またSF映画に魅了された一人として、ジェフ・ミルズは「自身の作品をフィルムや映像のために製作しなければ」という衝動に駆られ、2000年より「シネミックス」というスタイルに着手し、60以上のオールド・SF・ムービー（1920- 70年代）から抽出した映像＋音像のライブ・ミックスした作品として「THE TRIP」を制作。

今公演は、COSMIC LABとのコラボレーションによる１時間半に及ぶサウンドとイメージのマスター・ミックス。「THE TRIP」は住みづらくなってしまった地球から、新しい世界を探すために地球より遠く離れた場所を開拓していくという、これから人類が経験するであろうテーマを描く。

精神的かつ心理的な強烈な映像＋音像体験が、観衆を未知の時空へと連れ立ったのである。

As a symbolic artist of experimental and conceptual techno music, and as a person fascinated by sci-fi movies, Jeff Mills is driven by the urge to “create and dedicate his own work for films and videos”. In 2000 he coined the style ”Cinemix”.

“THE TRIP” is a live mix of sound and images, with the visuals being extracted from over 60 old sci-fi movies from 1920 – 1970. The visual mix depicts what human beings will experience when we venture out to explore distant places, far from the earth, in order to find a new home due to Earth becoming a difficult place to live. The 1.5 hour performance and collaboration with COSMIC LAB was a psychologically intense audio-visual experience that took the audience on a journey to unknown space and time, evoking feelings of beauty found in rythm and awe-inspiring chaos.
